Sagrada Familia

These are the spires of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. Construction on the church began in 1882 and continues today. Some say it will take 30 years to finish it. In the past construction has been stopped for long periods of time due to funding and other issues.

It costs $11 to get in, and it’s well worth the price. There’s a self tour that takes you through the complex. The sculptures on the sides of the building are remarkable. It’s an unusual treat to see a building so carefully constructed in this day and age.

After seeing multitudes of old churches with intricate sculptural work that has been worn down through the ages, it’s refreshing to see new, more modern work.
