I had to come up with a photo/drawing in the Brushes app, the app that was used to create the cover of a May, 2009 New Yorker.
After beginning drawing after drawing onto various photos, I came up with nothing good.
Then I let myself go free. I layered various colors to make a background then mixed it into the original photo using the opacity slider.
The flamingo was pretty much set, I just repainted it the color it was with an impressionistic brush.
