Old Chair

This old chair, found art in Blythe, CA, has got everything going for it–color, shape and form.

I always enjoy when I find gems like this in back alleyways or in trash heaps on the side of the road.

From the four button holes on the chair’s back rest to the lavender spray paint on the foot rest, the chair could be the town mascot.

I like to imagine where this chair was when it was new, a beauty parlor, maybe? It looks as if it tips back so a person’s head could reach a sink for a hair wash.

I also like to pretend that it alive, perhaps, and has a name. Pee Wee Herman named his chair, “Chairy” on his show back in the 1980s. Here’s a photo of a replica of that chair, which was found ditched on a street in NYC.
