Fake Backdrops

One of my favorite things to do in photography is to find an artificial backdrop for a friend to interact with.

In this shot I found the perfect background for the subject to interact with. As you can see, she knew exactly what to do after I explained to her the type of shot I wanted.

The best place for fake backdrops is inside the subway station. Another good place is inside a mall. This shot is taken in a New York City mall.

Since this shot was taken inside, I set my ISO to 800 and used an f-stop of f/4 in Av mode, which left the aperture open wide so that the camera’s shutter speed was fast to make a sharp image.
